5 Reminders When Potty Training Your Puppy

1. Bond with your pooch - Get to know your pet a little better. Take note that knowing the behavior of your pet is important. It is vital to understand you pooch's body movements and even the sounds that they make could mean something else. Try to observe what are they trying convey. What are the signs that they want to go pee, or eat, or take a walk, or play. Another thing is, as a pet owner, you know better. 2. Make a schedule for potty - when potty training a puppy, it is vital to do it in a certain time of day. Dogs can retain this information as long as you are consistent in doing this. Consistency is the name of the game. Studies have shown that dogs remember a certain event is done repeated with the same stimuli. Hence they would react the same they did before. When it comes to how many repetitions for them to remember, no one can tell since every scenario if different.
3. Explore - Let your little darling explore the entire house, inside and out, especially during his first day. Let him feel comfortable and be familiarized with his new surroundings. Your puppy will feel at home in a while when he has roamed around sniffing every bit of the house's cranny. After a while, give him something to drink and take him out to the yard to relieve himself. Be careful since he will find a place where he will pee. At this point, you can intervene with your potty training skills.
4. Point - Pick the area where you want your precious puppy can do his business. He must know his own areas inside and outside the house. You can make him his own comfortable sleeping area, peeing area, eating area, lounging space and so on. This could minimize the incidence of accidents and unwanted puppy-related destruction mania. Not only you are protecting your possessions, you are protecting yourself from anger as well.
5. Other Necessities - While you're at it, you can teach your puppy the other essentials like the time for eating, playing, sleeping, and what not.
